The George Mason University College of Health and Human Services (CHHS) invites applicants for the position of Northern Virginia Area Health Education Center (NoVa AHEC) Program Director (.80 FTE). Responsibilities: Reporting to the Associate Dean for Research and Program Evaluation in CHHS, this position will lead planning, implementing, and evaluating activities, as well as reporting outcomes of the newly established NoVa AHEC at Mason. The NoVa AHEC is one of eight regional centers in the Virginia AHEC system. Its mission is to promote health careers and access to primary care for the underserved population through community partnership.

The incumbent is responsible for the efficient and effective day-to-day operation of the center as well as the planning, implementation, and evaluation of its programs and services, addressing the challenges currently impacting health professionals recruitment, education and retention in the region through collaborations with key stakeholders. Key activities include: * Arrange clinical rotations for students in multiple CHHS majors to introduce them to the needs and rewards of working with underserved populations, and track where the graduates become employed to enhance the distribution of health workers in the region; * Sponsor pipeline activities for youth, targeted at underrepresented groups that have not historically considered health professions (e.g., campus tours/visits, summer camps and youth programs); * Develop initiatives to enhance college students--from multiple health professions--knowledge and skills related to integrated, team-based care in in the areas of behavioral health, chronic and infectious disease management; * Participate in the development of grant and contract proposals seeking financial support for projects that will strengthen the overall ability of the NoVa AHEC to meet health professional training needs in northern Virginia; and * Responsible for meeting and reporting all technical and financial deliverables to the Virginia AHEC office, while maintaining compliance with federal and Mason policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications: * Graduate degree in healthcare, education, management, finance or another related field; * Substantial demonstrated health education or health professional education/experience working with educational institutions, healthcare organizations, and/or government agencies (minimum five years is preferred); * Demonstrated ability to be an effective team mentor and provide team leadership; * Successful experience in writing grant applications, managing grant-funded programs, and demonstrating importance of cultural competence in professional development; * Proven capacity for relationship-building with academic, community, and financial partners; and * Exceptional oral and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualification: * Multiple language proficiency.
