The George Mason University Antonin Scalia Law School seeks a Part-Time Events Planner (20 hours per week) for the Global Antitrust Institute (GAI) on the Arlington, Va., campus. Responsibilities: Reporting to the Executive Director and Director of the Global Antitrust Institute, the Events Planner will lead activities related to the Global Antitrust Institute as follows:

Program Operations: * Oversee the day-to-day operations and staff of the GAI’s educational programs for judges and enforcement officials; * Plan and execute all aspects of education programs, including arranging hotel accommodations and meeting space, audiovisual needs, and catering, among others--to include classroom sessions and social events; * Distribute materials/information to attendees, including reading materials, hotel confirmation numbers, and other information as necessary; * Handle payments to vendors (hotel, catering, etc.); * Manage attendee lists and hotel rooming lists; * Manage Director, attendee, and speaker travel, including air and ground transport; * Be present on site at programs and supervise all aspects of program execution, including hotel, catering, and AV staff, including classroom sessions and social events; and * Prepare travel reimbursements for attendees and speakers.

Program Development and Speaker/Faculty Recruitment: * Schedule GAI programs; * Prepare letters of agreement and honoraria payments for faculty; * Prepare program agendas; and * Manage speaker reading materials and PowerPoint presentations.

Marketing and Recruitment: * Develop and maintain relationships with a broad base of judges and enforcement officials who may attend GAI programs or suggest other attendees; and * Lead an active communications and recruiting effort to ensure program attendance and relevance.

Budget: * Operate the GAI educational programs within budget, as well as provide tracking and reporting of actual expenditures; and * Provide cost analysis when requested.

Required Qualifications: The candidate for the position of Part Time Events Planner must have the following attributes: * Excellent organizational and management skills, including the ability to juggle multiple tasks and priorities effectively; * Highly self-motivated and detail-oriented, and possesses a professional demeanor; * Ability to interact with all levels of legal, academic, and governmental officials; and * Excellent communications skills, both oral and written.

This position will require some travel (approximately three week-long international trips per year) and a flexible work schedule.

This is not a supervisory position.

This is a part-time position with an hourly salary of $15-$20 per hour.
