For more information, please visit our EdgeConneX Internet of Everywhere(R).Fixed Assets AccountantThe Fixed Assets Accountant will be responsible for accountable for recording the cost of newly-acquired fixed assets, tracking existing fixed assets, recording depreciation, and accounting for the disposition of fixed assets. They will also be accountable for the collection of tax-related information, reporting to taxation authorities at the federal, state, county, and local levels in a timely manner, and advising management on the tax impact of various corporate strategies.DutiesCreate and monitor a system of controls, policies and procedures for the recordation of fixed assetsRecord fixed asset acquisitions and dispositions in the accounting systemMonitor compliance with capitalization policies and proceduresTrack the compilation of project costs into fixed asset accounts, and close out those accounts once the related projects have been completedReconcile the balance in the fixed asset subsidiary ledger to the summary-level account in the general ledgerReview and update the detailed schedule of fixed assets and accumulated depreciationInvestigate the potential obsolescence of fixed assetsConduct periodic physical inventory counts of fixed assetsRepresent the company during any audits that involve fixed assetsTrack company expenditures for fixed assets in comparison to the capital budget and management authorizationsPrepare audit schedules relating to fixed assets, and assist the auditors in their inquiriesComplete required tax reporting in a timely mannerPrepare and update tax provision schedulesResearch and correct process errors that caused incorrect tax filingsNegotiate with tax authorities over tax payment issuesDevise tax strategies to defer or eliminate tax paymentsAdvise management regarding the tax impact of corporate strategies and impact of new laws on tax liabilitiesKnowledge, Skills & Abilities5+ years of experience performing Fixed Assets and Tax Accountant dutiesThorough knowledge of general accounting methods, principles, and the ability to apply this knowledgeWell versed with standard concepts, practices and procedures within Fixed AssetsThorough understanding of Tax related accountingExperience with preparing and reviewing schedules and supporting documents necessary to file consolidated federal, state and tax returnsProficiency as a resource for tax related questionsMust have demonstrated the ability to read and understand legal documents and appropriately record the impact according to GAAPSolid organizational and analytical skillEffective communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to function well in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with competing prioritiesAbility to build strong working relationships across the organizationEducation/ExperienceBachelor degree in accounting, finance or a related fieldCPA preferredWorking knowledge of Accounting Software packages, Sage AccPac strongly preferredStrong PC skills to include Microsoft Office, specifically advanced in ExcelExperience in Telecommunications Industry required, preferably with a focus on Data Center servicesEdgeConneX believes diversity - of thought, backgrounds and experiences - affects all that we do, from our employees to the solutions we deliver.
