    You must have one year Specialized Experience equivalent to the GS-12level in the Federal service (experience may have been gained in the private/military sector) giving the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position.  Experience must be reflected in your resume.
    Specialized experience required for this position is: 

    • Derives allegations, determines the standard involved, and develops and carries out investigative plans to confirm or deny the truth of allegations.
    • Identifies deficiencies, inconsistencies, and non-compliance with doctrine, training, organization, material and supply, resource management, and leadership.
    • Evaluates and assesses overall operations of organizations by reviewing assistance and investigation activity in such areas as resource use, senior leadership, training, compliance with regulations and directives, business practices, etc., in order to determine the overall effectiveness.

    Specifically you will be evaluated on the following competencies:

    1. Broad knowledge of IG style functions of assistance, inquiry, investigation, and inspection, with expert knowledge of assistance and investigation techniques and methodologies
    2. Comprehensive knowledge of laws, regulations, and directives relating to specialized investigative techniques, procedures, the rules of evidence and search and seizure.
    3. Ability to communicate effectively in writing and to prepare written reports that substantiate findings and serve as a basis for administrative or legal action.

    Time-in-Grade Requirements: Federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements for merit promotion consideration. Time-in-grade is the 52-week requirement Federal employees in competitive service, General Schedule (GS) positions at GS-5 and above must serve before they are eligible for promotion (advancement) to the next grade level.
