Information Systems Administrator
As an Information Systems Administrator in our Silver Spring, MD office, you’ll be responsible for day-to-day tasks ranging from user support (PC and Mac) for both software and hardware to Windows and networking administration.
Altarum’s Corporate Information Technology department supports 5 domestic locations, 200+ servers, and 450+ internal users. You’ll be part of a close knit team of IT professionals – working together as efficiently as possible, and ultimately ensuring that our infrastructure departments and elite team of proof editors, graphic designers, video editors, researchers and healthcare analysts have all of the tools that they need to fulfill our mission of serving the public good to improve human health.
On a day-to-day basis, you’re going to work in a fast-paced environment and collaborate with IT colleagues on multiple simultaneous projects – maintenance, upgrades, and enhancements of our infrastructure. And you’ll also be providing Desktop/Telephone Helpdesk support to Altarum staff based in Ann Arbor, MI, Washington, DC, Silver Spring, MD, Rockville, MD, and Portland, ME, as well as over 50+ remote staff. Your interactions with employees will be tracked through our Dell KACE ticketing system, where you’ll also push software, update inventory, remotely manage machines, and provide reports. We also expect you to grow professionally and technically - you’ll have the opportunity to attend a training class or an industry conference each year, and you’ll play an active role in our internal cross-training exercises.
This individual will provide end user support for both hardware and software issues on both PC’s and Macs including such technologies as:
- Outlook/Exchange 2013/2016
- Skype for Business
- VPN Client Support
- Microsoft SharePoint
- Microsoft Office 365
This individual may also help manage various system such as:
- Active Directory (Microsoft)
- Firewall Administration (Palo Alto)
- VPN Administration (Palo Alto)
- Switch Administration (Cisco/Juniper)
- Wireless System Administration (Aruba)
- Perform Maintenance (monthly/quarterly or as needed, after hours) on all Network equipment
- Unitrends Backup Software
- Virtualization (VMware preferred)
- Storage (Kaminario preferred)
- 3-5 years of Windows and network-based Administration
- 3-5 years providing Mac support (hardware and software)
- 2-5 years providing Desktop/Helpdesk support to a variety of users (both Hardware and Software)
- Desktop support of the aforementioned Microsoft and other software products
- Aptitude for quick learning
- Excellent troubleshooting skills
- The individual may be required to visit other sites in the Metro DC Area
