  • Holds a Master’s degree from an accredited college or university and a valid Virginia teaching license with an endorsement in special education

  • Has experience participating on a PBIS team or serving as a PBIS Coach

  • Has demonstrated interpersonal and leadership skills necessary for building strong rapport and relationships with teachers, administrators, and community members

  • Has excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Uses a team approach and collaboration to accomplish tasks and promote collaboration to improve student outcomes


ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP:


The PBIS Consulting Teacher reports to the Behavior Support Coordinator.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; use hands to touch and hold objects or instruments and to type; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is regularly required to see, talk and hear.  The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or bend, and may be required to lift up to approximately 15 pounds.  Itinerant travel is required, and the employee is frequently required to change locations and adapt to multiple environments across schools, offices and home visits.  Ability to drive and navigate to multiple locations occasionally within a single day is required.

JOB DESCRIPTION:  

Under general supervision of the Behavior Support Coordinator, the PBIS Consulting Teacher is responsible for providing support in the implementation and evaluation of PBIS to schools across the division. The position is also responsible for designing and delivering high quality professional learning to school staff and leaders in the areas of behavioral and instructional strategies to support the use of evidence-based practices in schools.

RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Teach, model, facilitate, and build teacher capacity to utilize research-based best practices within the school’s behavioral framework to support student learning

  • Support schools through a model of consultation and collaboration with PBIS coaches, teams, and administrators

  • Collect and analyze division-level data to identify trends in the areas of discipline, formative and summative PBIS assessments, and school climate

  • Plan and deliver professional learning to support the framework of PBIS and division-wide goals

  • Maintain and update databases (PBIS Data Application, Vision, PBISApps, monthly data logs)

  • Serve as a member of the division-level PBIS Coordination Team
