MINIUMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

To qualify for the position applicants must meet all of the qualification requirements for the position by the closing date of this announcement.

To be rated qualified for this job, an applicant must meet all of the MQs listed below at the time of vacancy announcement closure:

1. Must have a high school diploma or a GED equivalent by the date of hire.

2. Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.

3. Must be physically able to perform the duties of the occupation.

4. Have completed at least one trades course (such as Electrical, HVAC, Plumbing, Automotive Mechanics) in high school OR be currently enrolled in a degree or certificate program at a trade’s school accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by the US Department of Labor.

5. Must possess a valid driver’s license (depending on occupation, may also be required to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License) and must have a driving record in good standing by the date of hire.

6. Must have reliable means of transportation to on-the-job training and related instruction.

7. Must obtain Airport Security Credentials, which includes a FAA mandated security background investigation.

8. Must be able to work day shift including overtime if necessary.

HOW YOU WILL BE EVALUATED:

 

Once the application process is completed, a review of your resume and supporting documentation will be done to determine if you meet the basic qualification requirements. There is an Assessment questionnaire(s) that you must complete. Your resume and supporting documentation will then be compared to your responses to the assessment questionnaire(s).  If a determination is made that your application does not support your responses, which you provided in the assessment questionnaire, your application will not receive further consideration for this announcement.

TRADE APPRENTICE SELECTION PROCEDURES:

 Interested candidates must apply to specific apprenticeship position vacancy announcements.  Applications will be screened for minimum qualifications.  Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications for the Program will be required to take skills assessment test and make a qualifying score.

All applicants who meet the minimum qualifications and successfully achieve a qualifying score on the assessment test will be interviewed by a panel to include a supervisor from the specific trade and Human Resources.  Interviews will be limited to objective questions that will help determine the interest and aptitude of applicants regarding the occupation (s) for which they apply.

TERM OF APPRENTICESHIP:

Apprenticeship training includes up to four (4) years of on-the-job training and related instruction.  The total hours of the skilled tasks are identified by the certifying trade school. 

Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, you will be retained and converted non-competitively to the Journey Level grade of Plumber position. In order to be eligible for retention, you must successfully obtain a Journeyman’s Trade License in the applicable trade (if such a test/license is offered in that trade) or equivalent for the trade, within three (3) months of completing the apprenticeship program and receiving a Certificate of Apprenticeship.   

RELATED INSTRUCTION:

To assure mastery of the occupation, apprentices shall be required to attend related or supplemental training for theoretical and lab/shop training related to the apprentice occupation.  The required number of hours of related or supplemental training for each apprentice occupation will be determined in conjunction with the approved training provider.

The related instruction shall be provided by a training provider approved by the Airports Authority. 

OTHER INFORMATION:

A background security investigation will be required for all new hires.
