Events and Program Coordinator, Office of the Dean - Walsh School of Foreign Service

The Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service (SFS), founded in 1919, is a premier school of international affairs. At Georgetown's Washington, D.C., and Qatar campuses, SFS provides a rigorous education grounded in both theory and practice while instilling the Jesuit values of service.

The Events and Program Coordinator provides event coordination for the Office of the Dean, as well as administrative support for the Senior Associate Dean for Faculty and Graduate Affairs and the Faculty Chair. Reporting to the Associate Dean for Finance and Administration and works closely with the Senior Associate Dean for Faculty and Graduate Affairs, the Faculty Chair, and other members of the SFS Dean's Office team.  Duties include but are not limited to:

Administrative Support

  • Provides general administrative support to the Senior Associate Dean for Faculty and Graduate Affairs and the Faculty Chair.
  • Coordinates meeting and activity schedules, working daily with the Senior Associate Dean, the Faculty Chair, and other team members to ensure the most up-to-date calendar and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Books travel (all related transportation - air, rail, ground) and lodging as needed.
  • Assists with follow-up on action items - for example, making phone calls, preparing documents, and sending correspondence.
  • Prepares reimbursements and related documentation, and works closely with the SFS finance team on processing.
  • Works with the Office Manager or other team members as needed in support of technology, supply, and facilities needs for the Senior Associate Dean and the Faculty Chair.

Event Coordination

  • Handles all preparation and close out for events - to include space reservations, invitations/advertising, catering, equipment, setups and cleanups.
  • Maintains necessary equipment and supplies.


  • Bachelor's degree
  • At least 2 years of related professional experience - preferably in a university setting.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Strong orientation to detail, deadlines, and customer service
