These positions are being filled under Expedited Hiring Authority (EHA) for Defense Acquisition Workforce Positions and Health Care Occupations. The Secretary of the Air Force has delegated authority by the Office Of the Secretary of Defense to directly appoint individuals to select defense acquisition workforce positions, or 'EHA Acquisition,' pursuant to the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) and certain health care occupations, or 'EHA Medical.' Positions are located Air Force-Wide. Positions may be filled as permanent or term with a full-time or part-time work schedule. Pay will vary by geographic location.

For positions at GS-4 and above: Qualifying specialized experience may have been gained in hospital pharmacies, retail pharmacies, or in pharmaceutical firms or laboratories. Experience must have provided a basic knowledge of:
Characteristics, strengths, and dosage forms of pharmaceuticals;
Pharmaceutical systems of weights and measures; and the
Variety of procedures and techniques involved in the care, storage, repackaging, bulk compounding, and distribution of pharmaceuticals.
Education and Training
For GS-5: Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree with major study in pharmacy, or that included at least 24 semester hours in pharmacy-related courses.
Successful completion of a course for medical technicians, hospital corpsmen, medical service specialists, or hospital training obtained in a training program given by the Armed Forces or the U.S. Maritime Service under close medical and professional supervision is creditable on a month-for-month basis for general experience.
Successful completion of pertinent specialized training courses in pharmaceutical and pharmacy practices while serving in the Armed Forces is creditable on a month-for-month basis up to the 1 year of specialized experience required for GS-5.
FOR GS-05: At least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade (GS-04) or equivalent. Specialized experience includes basic knowledge of pharmaceutical nomenclature, characteristics, strengths, and dosage forms of pharmaceuticals; pharmaceutical systems of weights and measures, and a variety of procedures and techniques involved in the care, storage, repackaging, bulk compounding, distribution of pharmaceuticals.
FOR GS-06: At least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade (GS-05) or equivalent. Specialized experience includes knowledge of pharmaceutical nomenclature, characteristics, strengths, and dosage forms of pharmaceuticals; pharmaceutical systems of weights and measures, and a variety of procedures and techniques involved in the care, storage, repackaging, bulk compounding, distribution of pharmaceuticals; ability to train new personnel on proper guidelines, procedures, and methods of assigned work area.
FOR GS-07: At least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade (GS-06) or equivalent. Specialized experience includes extensive knowledge of pharmacy practices, pharmaceutical rules, procedures, regulations and operations to perform a variety of complex technical function; core knowledge of pharmaceutical nomenclature; characteristics, strengths, and dosage forms of pharmaceuticals; pharmaceutical systems of weights and measures; and the variety of procedures and techniques involved in the care, storage, repackaging, bulk compounding, distribution of pharmaceuticals, and skill in reading individual prescriptions and determine correct dosage.
FOR GS-08: At least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade (GS-07) or equivalent. Specialized experience includes thorough knowledge of pharmaceutical nomenclature including generic, trade and chemical names of drugs; knowledge of an extensive body of pharmaceutical, pharmacy practices, pharmaceutical rules, procedures, regulations and operations to perform a variety of complex technical functions.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of an extensive body of pharmaceuticals, pharmacy practices, pharmaceutical rules, procedures, regulations, and operations to perform a variety of complex technical functions.
2. Knowledge of standard procedures and techniques involved in repackaging drugs and supplies; bulk compounding; receipt, storage, care, and distribution of pharmaceuticals; and preparation of certain sterile solutions.
3. Knowledge of pharmaceutical nomenclature; characteristics, strengths, and dosage forms of pharmaceuticals; pharmaceutical systems of weights and measures; and operation and care of pharmacy equipment.
4. Skill in operation of a wide variety of pharmacy equipment to measure, weigh, and mix ingredients.
5. Ability to perform pharmaceutical calculations relating to drug quantities and dosages.
6. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
IF USING EDUCATION TO QUALIFY: You MUST provide transcripts to support your educational claims. Education must be accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
