CBO's Tax Analysis Division seeks an economist to conduct research and analyses on a broad range of federal tax policy issues.

The Tax Analysis Division is responsible for providing the Congress with analysis and evaluation of the effects of past and proposed changes to federal tax policies and for forecasting federal revenues as part of CBOs baseline budget projections.

The successful candidate will support the work of the division by developing economic models, conducting economic analyses and empirical research, and writing CBO reports and testimony. Staff members are encouraged to participate in the policy research community by presenting papers at conferences, publishing articles in professional journals, and circulating preliminary research in CBOs working paper series.

Qualifications
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in economics or a related discipline, or a masters degree in economics or a related discipline along with at least three years of relevant experience. Special consideration will be given to candidates with experience in public finance, labor, applied econometrics, or computational general equilibrium modeling. Applicants should have strong quantitative skills, the ability to clearly present work orally and in writing to nontechnical audiences, the ability to initiate and complete research projects independently and as a team member, and a desire to work on issues of current or potential legislative interest to the Congress.
