Assistant Professor of Theatre Arts

Responsibilities: Teaches, advises, and mentors undergraduate students, consistently engaging in scholarship and/or professional creative work as well as offering university and community service; oversees the acting sequence; teaches acting and other courses in theatre studies including theatre appreciation, voice and diction, movement, children's theatre and advanced acting topics; directs one main stage production each academic year; supports recruitment efforts of new undergraduate students; participates in season planning, administrative, and other activities of the Department and College; maintains a commitment to effective undergraduate teaching, ongoing professional development, and active creative and/or scholarly work. This is a tenure track position.

Qualifications: Master's of Fine Arts or Ph.D. in Theatre Performance or a related field required. Minimum five (5) years of excellence in teaching, especially on the university level. Demonstrated evidence of strong interpersonal and organizational skills and an ability to collaborate with theatre and dance colleagues; evidence of artistic achievement in the academic and professional theatre, with specialization in acting and practical experience in directing and in theatre for young audiences; evidence of working with diverse populations, college preparedness, and learning styles; evidence of continuing creative and/or scholarly work; training in two or more of the following: physical theatre, movement, stage combat, voice and diction, and classic/styles; an ability to build interdisciplinary and community partnership.
