Kiplinger’s Personal Finance, a national magazine that has been advising consumers and investors for more than 70 years, seeks an enthusiastic and ambitious senior-level writer and editor.

QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants should have an in-depth knowledge of personal finance issues, with at least ten years’ experience writing and editing articles about retirement and retirement planning as well as other financial topics—including taxes, credit, banking, insurance, saving for college and smart spending--for magazines, newspapers or websites. Social media proficiency and experience being interviewed by the media are a plus.

RESPONSIBILITIES

--Write practical, easy-to-understand articles geared toward individuals and families for Kiplinger’s Personal Finance magazine and Kiplinger.com.

--Assign and edit articles, and work with art department to develop illustration and photo ideas, sidebars, graphics and digital presentation.

--Generate story ideas.

--Work with the editor and other senior staff on long-term editorial projects for the magazine, related publications and the website.

Preference will be given to applicants willing to locate in the Washington, DC, area to work in our downtown offices.
