Job Description   GEICO's IT Operations department is seeking a highly motivated individual with a passion for problem solving and customer service to join the team as a Systems Technician for our Network Operations Center (NOC).   As a Systems Technician, you will monitor the availability and performance of our business applications, coordinate responses to major incidents, perform various operational functions, and support the daily job schedules.   Your primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Provide Tier 2 technical support to incident tickets received from monitoring/alerting systems and end-users
  • Coordinate response to major incidents to ensure a timely restoration of service
  • Monitor abnormalities and execute restoration procedures following documented processes
  • Document and improve procedures for use by other members of the Network Operations Center
  • Support change activities by executing documented procedures
 

Desired Qualifications
  • 2+ years of previous experience in a Network Operations Center, Help Desk, LAN/Desktop, Application Product support, or similar environment
  • Working knowledge of TCP/IP, networking, and security
  • Working knowledge in one or more of the following areas: Windows Servers, UNIX/Linux, Databases (SQL, Oracle, DB2), Mainframe Operations, and Networking
  • Strong telephone etiquette and the ability to deal with end users, peers, and management under stressful conditions.
  • Proven analytical/problem-solving skills and the ability to organize and prioritize several tasks at once
  • Familiarity with ITIL or MOF frameworks is a plus
  • Associate's or Bachelor's Degree is a plus
