Summary

PenFed is hiring a Lead, UI (user interface) Designer in McLean, VA. The primary purpose of this job is to provide wireframes, workflows, UI designs, interaction designs for PenFed web and mobile properties. This position will translate user insights, business requirements, and platform vision into executable designs and interaction recommendation.

 

Essential Functions

    Conceptualize original ideas that bring simplicity and user friendliness to complex design roadblocks. Create, share, and revise wireframes based on user, business, or regulatory requirements. Annotate designs and build development requirements based on the UI designs. Collaborate with platform managers and engineers to define and implement innovative solutions for the product direction, visuals and experience. Review/Write mark-up for web deployment of your designs (css, html5, javascript). Create wireframes, storyboards, user flows, and site maps to effectively communicate interaction and design ideas. Present and explain key milestone deliverables to peers and executive level stakeholders Participate in user research and evaluate user feedback. Establish and promote User Interface guidelines, best practices and standards. Work multiple projects concurrently and shift priorities as required to meet business requirements and deadlines.
Education and Experience

Equivalent combination of education and experience is considered.

    Bachelor’s Degree in design, marketing or related field is required. Minimum of five (5) years’ of experience in UI development and UI design is required. Demonstrable UI design skills with a strong portfolio (wireframe, interaction design, annotation) is preferred. Experience in creating wireframes, interface design, and annotated interaction recommendations  is preferred. Proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator, or other visual design and wire-framing tools is preferred. Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript libraries is preferred. Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development process is preferred.
Supervisory Responsibility

    This position may mentor employees.
 

Licenses and Certifications

    There are no additional certifications required.
 

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to an indoor office setting with moderate noise.

 

 

Travel

Limited travel to various worksites is required.
