Nurse Practitioner salary:

$50 - $75 Hourly Base Rate with Additional Incentive Eligibility

Psychiatrist salary:
$100 - $150 Hourly Base Rate with Additional Incentive Eligibility

The Arlington County Department of Human Services has a recovery and best practice oriented mission, and the psychiatrist/nurse practitioner will have the opportunity to be a part of projects which are at the forefront of mental health service delivery, including health care integration and innovative access models. 
 
This is an hourly contract position with a minimum of 8 hours weekly required. This community-oriented "Psychiatrist or Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse Practitioner" will work on an interdisciplinary outpatient team focused on older adults and individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities. The psychiatrist/nurse practitioner will work closely with the treatment team to develop and implement interdisciplinary, recovery focused treatment.
 
 The position entails the following work expectations:
  • Diagnostic psychiatric evaluations;
  • Ongoing psychiatric management, including psychopharmacologic treatment, appropriate forms of psychotherapeutic support, and as needed crisis intervention in collaboration with the treatment team;
  • Assuring comprehensive healthcare needs are identified and treated and the people served are educated about their illness and given health management information and techniques;
  • Team consultation and clinical supervision, and participation in interdisciplinary treatment planning meetings;
  • Documentation of clinical care in the electronic clinical record;
  • Backup physician/nurse practitioner coverage as needed to Division outpatient services; and/or
  • Participation in performance plan with specific benchmarks associated with incentive payment.

 Selection Criteria: Minimum: 
  • An MD. from an accredited Medical school and graduation from an Accredited Residency Program in Psychiatry: OR
  • Master of Science in Nursing, ANCC;
  • Certification as a Board Certified Psychiatric and/or Mental Health Nurse Practitioner;
  • Must be licensed (or licensable) to practice medicine or nursing in the State of Virginia; and
  • Must have a Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) license with prescriptive authority.

Desirables:
  • Board certification from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology;
  • Sub-speciality certification in Geriatric Psychiatry;
  • Experience in an outpatient community setting working intensively with patients with serious mental illness and substance abuse;
  • Multidisciplinary team experience;
  • Spanish-speaking
  • Experience with senior adult mental health treatment and/or work with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities
