Note: This announcement is for two part-time temporary positions from May 22, 2017 to October 1, 2017 at a rate of $13.97 - $22.69 per hour. 
Arlington County Department of Parks and Recreation is filling two Park Ranger Aide positions for this summer. 

These positions will be responsible for patrolling designated Arlington County parks and providing general support to Park Rangers while walking, biking and/or driving a County vehicle for long periods of time. Responsibilities will include some manual labor including clearing bike trails by moving heavy tree limbs, and working outdoors in all types of weather. Work is primarily on the weekends, including holidays, with occasional weekdays.

Duties include:
  • Providing visitor information and programming services;
  • Ensuring park security and visitor safety;
  • Assisting in giving first-aid and/or CPR during medical emergencies;
  • Supporting other County programs such as park maintenance, sports, and recreation;
 
 Selection Criteria: Minimum: High School diploma or GED plus six months of experience as a Park Ranger Aide or similar position, such as a naturalist, park technician, museum interpreter or recreational leader. 

Desirable: Certification in CPR/first-aid.
 Special Requirements: If selected, the aide will be required to:
  • Agree to a criminal background check;
  • Provide negative TB results or submit to a TB screening;
  • Attend all required trainings;
  • Possess a valid motorized vehicle operator's license;
  • Consent to a driving history record check; and
  • Possess or obtain First Aid/CPR certification.

 Additional Information: Work Hours: Weekly work schedule is typically between 16 and 30 hours per week, with required work on all weekends and holidays, and occasional weekdays.
