Systems Administrator

Key Role:

Perform general system administration and operations support duties for a lab used by approximately 25 users. Maintain and provision a variety of hardware platforms and operating systems. Perform installations or upgrades of computer hardware and operating systems, applications, and patches. Perform basic Windows and Linux system administration. Participate in installing and maintaining networks, including configuring and managing firewalls, switches, VLANs, and access control lists. Monitor and analyze system logs and perform troubleshooting, as needed. Manage Microsoft Active Directory and UNIX NIS, including users, computers, servers, group policies, DNS, and scripts.

Basic Qualifications:

-7 + years of experience with designing, upgrading, maintaining, administering and troubleshooting Windows and UNIX environments
-Experience with Windows operating systems, including 2000, 2003, and XP and network fundamentals, including IP addressing, sub-netting, routers, firewalls, and switches
-Experience with maintaining virtual machines, including set up, cloning, and maintaining and managing inventory and property
-Knowledge of a UNIX or Linux operating system, including Solaris, AIX, HP/UX, Redhat, or Novel/SuSE Linux
-Knowledge of networking services, including DNS, NIS, NFS, and Active Directory
-Ability to learn new technologies, integrate them with existing configurations, and support lab telecom equipment maintenance and operation

-TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph

Additional Qualifications:

-Experience with Python
-Experience with system analysis
-Knowledge of Cisco IOS
-Knowledge of UNIXautomounter and NIS
-Knowledge of VMWare vCenter and ESXi servers
-Possession of excellent programming or scripting skills, incuding PERL, BASH, or CSH
-BA or BS degree in CS or related field
-CCNA, VCP, RHCSA, or NCSA Certification preferred
