Systems Administrator, Mid

Key Role:

Serve as a Linux and Windows system administrator. Oversee the operations, administration, maintenance, and provisioning of a variety of hardware platforms and operating systems in support of large research and development efforts. Perform installations and upgrades of computer hardware and operating systems, applications, and patches. Monitor and analyze system logs and perform troubleshooting, as needed. Manage Microsoft Active Directory and UNIX NIS, including users, computers, servers, group policy, DNS, and scripts. Evaluate vendor specifications and secure quotations for hardware and software purchases. Manage inventory of property, including software, hardware, and licenses.

Basic Qualifications:

-5+ years of experience with designing, upgrading, maintaining, administering, and troubleshooting in a Windows environment

-3+ years of experience with administration in a Server 2008 domain and Active Directory environment, including group policy administration and domain management

-Experience with administering and updating UNIX and Linux, including Solaris, RedHat Enterprise Linux, and HP-UX and Windows operating systems, including 2000, server 2003 and 2008, XP, and Windows 7

-Experience with documenting system configurations, system design, and standard operating procedures using Microsoft Word, Project, Excel, and Visio

-Knowledge of UNIX Automounter, DNS, DHCP, and DFS

-Knowledge of virus protection and mitigating damage to contaminated systems, including ePolicy Orchestrator

-Ability to learn new technologies and integrate them with existing configurations, set priorities, and rearrange schedules to address unexpected issues

-TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph

Additional Qualifications:

-Experience with virtualization, including VCP preferred

-Experience with enterprise virus scanning solutions

-Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills

-BA or BS degree

-VCP, RHCSA, NetApp, or CCNA Certification required
