Our Homeland Secuirty Sector seeks qualified candidates for a Data and Policy Analyst who will be responsible for supporting a broad range of data analysis, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and visualization projects for government and private-sector clients. Successful candidates will have one to two years of experience conducting data analysis for policy and decision making applications. Analytic experience should demonstrate a focus on quantitative data manipulation, building visually appealing and interactive data visualizations of complex information, and highlighting relevant information and trends that produce actionable results for decision makers. Note: Candidates with experience using non-spatial analysis and visualization products (eg Excel, Tableau) as well as GIS (eg ArcGIS and ArcGIS Online) will be given priority. Responsibilities:* Provide daily support for the data collection, approach, analysis, and visualization solutions for homeland security projects* Apply quantitative analysis techniques including, but not limited to, data cleaning, processing, analysis, visualization, and reporting* Employ best practices for visualizing data, including appropriate cartographic principles where applicable* Integrate data analysis and visualization techniques into various projects and associated deliverables to support data-driven decision making across the homeland security enterprise* Effectively and flexibly use various software products as tools to organize, develop, analyze, and visually represent trends and themes from existing data sets* Utilize experience to help imagine, develop, and produce client-ready deliverables Qualifications:* Master's degree in public policy, economics, geography, applied statistics, engineering, or related technical discipline and one (1) to two (2) years of experience supporting data analysis and visualization projects* Strong work experience in creating data-driven products used for policy decisions by non-technical audiences* Familiarity with principles of data analysis including descriptive and exploratory techniques* Understanding of how to design and develop decision-ready analytical products suitable for senior government officials* Candidates selected may be subject to a security investigation and, if required, should be able to meet the eligibility requirements needed to gain access to classified information Required Skills and Knowledge Areas:Advanced knowledge of:* Microsoft Excel* Tableau (TM) data analysis software* Effective techniques for communicating advanced analytical methods and results in clear, easy-to-understand ways* Preferred candidates will have advanced work experience creating dynamic visualizations within an ArcGIS Online platform Additional Skills/Knowledge Areas:Knowledge of or familiarity with the following are helpful but not required:* ArcGIS and ArcGIS Online* GIS data types, structures, and spatial analysis* VBA programming* Data analysis with application to the emergency preparedness and homeland security domains* Database design* Functional scripting or domain-specific programming languages (eg, SQL, Python) To Apply:Candidates should submit a resume, a cover letter explaining interest and relevant qualifications, and a 2-3 page writing sample that demonstrates the ability to synthesize large amounts of information (on any topic) into a concise actionable summary.Cadmus is an equal opportunity employer and gives consideration for employment to qualified applicants without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, protected veteran status, or any other legally protected group status.
