CONTROLLER / Director We are recruiting for that one special person for our client in Baltimore, Maryland, who can walk in, having familiarity with statutory accounting principles, insurance or healthcare accounting, and a background as a controller. This is a GREAT "step-up" position for someone who has been an assistant controller. This critical position provides operational oversight to support and grow the organization. This position is "hands on" with a small staff and oversight of all accounting and statutory reporting responsibilities If you meet or exceed the qualifications below, we'd like to see your resume and speak with you right away. This 6-figure job will be somebody's dream job! HERE ARE THE MOST BASIC QUALIFICATIONS THAT MUST BE MET TO BE CONSIDERED: . Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. . Certified Public Accountant (CPA) . Five to ten years in healthcare and insurance related experience . Controller and/or accounting firm experience . Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles . Knowledge of general ledger software packages . Unconditional right to work in the United States HERE ARE THE PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: . Master's degree (MBA) strongly preferred. . Experience working with high growth or start-up entities . Experience developing organizational budgets . Strong financial analytical experience, with a history of saving money through analyzes (both forward and backward looking) . Expert knowledge of Microsoft software package . Knowledge of and experience with Statutory Accounting Principles HERE IS AN OVERVIEW OF THE QUALIFICATIONS: . Manages company accounting functions . Implements financial controls and procedures to safeguard corporate assets and resources . Implements approved accounting policies . Complies with industry standard and government mandated reporting standards and ensures accurate and timely financial reporting and budgeting . Prepares monthly and annual GAAP financial statements . Prepares quarterly and annual Statutory Insurance Blank financial statements in accordance with State and NAIC statutory accounting principles along with GAAP to Stat reconciliations . Provides analysis and insightful review of monthly and quarterly financial performance . Administers company's commercial insurance policies and coordinates renewals . Ensures compliance with relevant federal and state laws and regulations, to include regulatory requirements governing insurance companies . Manages relationships with outside auditors and oversees annual audit and tax preparations . Prepares the annual budget, and coordinates multi-year forecasts . Works with vendor partners to establish premium billing and enrollment policies, procedures and processes .
