Restaurant / Food Service - Executive Chef
Position:Currently seeking a dynamic executive chef for a high end Washington, DC venue. Looking for the ideal chef to develop and implement creative menu items that adhere to our brand standards. Purpose:As executive chef, it will be your responsibility to plan, control, organize, and direct the work of all Kitchen employees. You must prepare food while continuing to ensure the upmost in quality and consistency. Established cultural and core standards of the restaurant should be maintained. Must train, motivate, coach, and lead all employees in the Kitchen. Assist in the planning and development of recipes, entrees, and menus and ensuring the proper preparation and presentation of all food items. Ideal chef will utilize creative menu planning to minimize waste. Perform regular line checks and observes and tests food to determine if cooked properly. Make sure to regulate temperature of oven, broilers, grill, fryer, or other equipment necessary to perform job. Control operative expenses through budgeting, purchase decisions, inventory control, and proper scheduling. Ensure sanitation standards set forth by Mpire Club, local, state, and federal regulations, along with the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen. Must have excellent communication with employees and managers to assure that operational needs are met. Pre-meal meetings to educate staff on food taste and preparation methods should be held on a regular basis to assure effective coordination and cooperation between departments. Interaction with guests to assure satisfaction and the upmost in customer service. Qualifications, Knowledge and Skill Requirements:3-5 years of professional hospitality leadership experience in a similar environment; culinary degree preferredMust have experience in and understanding of fine dining. Must have supervisory, leadership and staff development skillsAbility to work efficiently and with a sense of urgency at all timesAbility to work in a high pressure environment while maintaining careful attention to food preparation standards Must have strong work ethic and work harmoniously and professionally with co-workers and supervisors.Possess the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet frequent short timeline goals and deadlinesMust have strong communication and interpersonal skillsProven track record of great quality and cost controls along with strong community involvement. Proven examples of leadership, not just managementMust be well organized, have strong work ethic, and be dependable.
