AbleVets, LLC is a fast growing Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) providing healthcare information technology services and resources to help the VA and DoD improve the lives of the people they serve. AbleVets has an opportunity for an experienced, motivated Network Architect to support the Department of Veterans Affairs' Enterprise Cloud Services Broker (ECSB) contract. This position is located in our Chantilly, VA office and could involve occasional travel to the customer offices in Washington, DC. Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities The Network Architect should be intimately familiar with network market technologies. He/She is responsible for developing and refining a network strategy and roadmap for cloud-based solutions. He/She is responsible for applying evolving technologies, techniques and frameworks to create and deliver network solutions for clients. Responsible for designing solutions and offerings and moving clients from legacy to integrated network tools and processes. Responsible for preparing and delivering technical presentations. Analyze user needs to determine functional requirements, define problems and develop plans and requirements for moderately complex to complex systems related to systems architecture, networking and telecommunications. Demonstrate exceptional oral and written communication skills. Specific job qualifications include:* Experience with data, voice and video network systems and networking principles * Designs and plans network systems * Provide specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture * Provides specific, detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques, and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements * Conducts testing of network systems * Maintains technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, switchers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc. * Evaluates and reports on new network technologies to enhance capabilities of the network * Exceptional analytical and problem solving skills, including the ability to define technology roadmaps and evaluate total-cost-of-ownership of solutions. Minimum Requirements: * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, electronics engineering or other engineering or technical discipline is required; 8 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education * 10+ years' experience in networks, LAN/WAN working with multiple technical platforms (eg, mainframe, two-tiered client-server, three-tiered client-server) and multiple network systems (eg, Novell, Windows NT) * Candidates must be US citizens and will be required to undergo a background investigation. * Enterprise-class network architecture development experience to include routing, switching, QoS, Call Admission Control, traffic shaping, and UC system monitoring and management in large government or commercial environments. * Public and private cloud communication architectures including SaaS, IPAM, DNS, DHCP, ACLs, LAN/WAN switch, Virtual switching, virtual routing and QoS * Experience with automated Network monitoring and stress testing tools combined with capacity planning. * Enterprise network security including firewalls, Secure DNS and DHCP. * Demonstrated competency in project management in a cross-functional environment with the proven ability to lead technical teams is required * Demonstrated competency in strategic thinking with abilities in relationship management * Working knowledge of architectural frameworks and methodologies * Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to present and discuss technical information in a way that establishes rapport, persuades others, and gains understanding * Confidence and leadership as a member of project teams in working with business users in a cross-functional environment * Experience working with cloud security and governance tools, cloud access security brokers (CASBs), and server virtualization technologies * Experience with enterprise applications (architecture, development, support, and troubleshooting Desired Qualifications; N/A
