Overview: Seeking an experienced full-time Staff Accountant who loves the construction industry to join our team in our corporate office in Gaithersburg, MD! We are a $30M+ residential subcontractor working in new home communities throughout the Mid-Atlantic region for over 40 years. This role will be responsible for performing daily and month-end accounting functions, including reconciliations, journal entries, corporate accounts payable, variance analysis, and special projects as needed. The successful candidate will have previous related accounting experience and will be highly organized, self-motivated, be able to manage multiple ongoing tasks, have excellent communication skills, and a contagiously great attitude. ​Responsibilities (representative, but not limited to): . Prepares month-end journal entries and variance reports . Maintains the general ledger and subsidiary ledger accounts, including preparing and posting journal entries for multiple divisions . Responsible for month end accruals, deferrals, and other journal entries as necessary to ensure accuracy and completeness of management reporting . Prepares monthly cash journal entries, including debt payments, ACH and wire transfer transactions . Reconciles subsidiary ledgers and support to the trial balance, including monthly change and variance analysis - Maintains timely reconciliation of employee receivables . Maintains fixed asset tracking to ensure adequate recording of depreciation and amortization . Records inventory adjustments arising out of periodic physical inventory . Prepare and enter monthly journal entries for the Company's employee benefit plans . Sales & Use tax compliance . Assists with reviewing/developing accounting policies and procedures . Special projects and other duties assigned Qualifications: . Bachelors/Associates degree in Accounting or Finance . Minimum of 3 years experience; relevant experience in the construction industry a plus . Strong attention to detail, great interpersonal skills and team mentality . Understanding of financial processes and internal controls . Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Office software, utilizing Excel in the preparation of spread sheets to support analysis and reconciliation . Familiarity with Solomon/Microsoft Dynamics accounting software a plus . US citizen, or verifiable authorization to work in the US Salary commensurate with experience.
