Our client is seeking a Community Outreach & Volunteer Coordinator to organize Know Your Rights sessions and other outreach activities for immigrant populations in Greater DC and coordinate volunteers to support our Legal and Social Services Departments. The ideal candidate is an entry-level professional with strong administrative, organizational, cross-cultural, communications and outreach, and Spanish speaking skills. The position is based in Falls Church, Virginia. Key Responsibilities Community Outreach and Volunteer Coordination: * Reserve venues, schedule and coordinate Know Your Rights sessions to educate immigrant communities in Northern Virginia, Maryland and DC * Conduct outreach events to local communities regarding Tahirih services. * Recruit, train, obtain feedback, and institutionalize methods to appropriately appreciate volunteers participating in KYR sessions and other activities, such as providing translation and transportation for clients * Maintain data management and integrity of volunteer information * Manage collection and storage of in-kind donations * Draft community outreach highlights from the Greater DC office to share in the pro bono newsletter and on the website and social media General Administrative Support: * Provide training and mentoring support to interns, staff and volunteers * Assist with front desk coverage as needed * Provide administrative support as needed * Other duties as assigned Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred * Fluency in both English and Spanish required * At least one year of experience providing paralegal, administrative or clerical support in an office setting, including experience with data entry * Demonstrable proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word (candidates may be tested) * A customer service orientation with a calm, courteous, attentive and professional manner * Strong communication skills, both written and oral * Highly organized with the capacity to troubleshoot and resolve problems to facilitate office efficiency * Ability to work independently and as part of a team * Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment * Good sense of humor and emotional maturity * Ability to set priorities and manage multiple projects independently in a fast-paced environment Please note, this is a part-time, one-year term contract position, for a minimum of 32 hours per week, and may be extended beyond this one-year term if funding is available.
