Established leader in utility scale solar installation seeking GPS Survey Lead Technician for Princess Anne, Maryland solar project. The GPS Lead is the onsite crew leadership position of the survey crew that conducts field activities. In this role, a lead team member will be expected to supervise and demonstrate proficiency with the following responsibilities. DutiesDirects all aspects of fieldwork from start to finish of jobAssist in prompt start to survey activities at project site by assembling and setting up the necessary equipmentPerform specific CAD layoutsExecute field data collectionMaintain equipment by cleaning, completing preventing maintenance and performing calibrationsProvide technical expertise to internal and external clientsPerform field work for land surveying scopes of work including construction staking, boundary location, As-Builts, and topography for various project typesOrganize field staking materials as necessaryOperate GPS, total stations and data collectorsOperates survey vehiclePrepares routine records and reports, as requiredTransfer files between data collectors and internal company project foldersCommunicate effectively with internal team members and clientMaintain productive working relationships with all clients and coworkersProactive approach and communication in the event issues are encountered on the project site.Adhere to the company's Safety, Quality Management and Equipment Maintenance policiesTrains and oversees subordinates in all areas of land surveying and GPS surveyingEvaluates and documents performance of assigned personnelDocuments, counsels and disciplines subordinates Required ExperienceConsiderable knowledge of the principles, practices, and fundamentals of land surveying and the State Minimum Standards of Practice for SurveyingKnowledge of the practical and safe operations of surveying instruments, equipment and other related toolsMust be able to operate GPS in both static and RTK modesProficient with Topcon Survey equipment, GPS and Total StationAbilty to work from complex engineering and construction plans, recorded subdivision plats, survey plats, plans, sketches and deed descriptionsTime management skillsStrong written and verbal communication skillsDisplaying initiative and resourcefulnessKnowledge of mathematics and measurementsAbility to use Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel), AUTOCADMust have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation to get to workMust be able perform tasks and solve problems with a high degree of independenceAbility to instruct, oversee and evaluate the work of subordinates in a mentoring and professional mannerA minimum of four (4) years of apprenticeship experience working under a surveyorAn additional 4-5 years minimum experience handling large scale projects.
