We are currently seeking a Senior Linux Systems Engineer for our Washington, DC (Georgetown) office. Responsibilities: - Provide system administration support for and interact with our large team of software developers - System administration and maintenance of web application servers and database servers - Tier 3 support for networking and hardware configuration for schools and districts that use our software products Other Responsibilities may include: - Set up, configure and support Linux/Windows servers and Network Equipment on a TCP/IP network - Administer all systems, applications, security updates and carefully document network and server changes- Configure and troubleshoot Web, SQL and Application servers - Design, configure and troubleshoot network devices - Troubleshoot network performance issues. Coordinate with manager and team on new tasks or existing issues. - Support and resolve issues related to hardware, software and network.- Support clients' requests for setting up hosting resources: Web sites, Databases, security and other internet resources (DNS, email, FTP). - Perform a variety of tasks including documentation and improvement of Standard Operating Procedures.Qualifications: Required Qualifications:- Bachelor-s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Information Technology, and Software Engineering. - At least 5+ years of experience in the IT Industry- Experience managing network resources in a web hosting environment - Experience with Linux Server Administration, including installation, troubleshooting, monitoring, performance tuning and configuration is required - Experience configuring and maintaining web servers such as IIS, Apache Tomcat and NGINX web servers - Excellent documentation and communication skills, a very proactive and detail-oriented person and a strong team-oriented attitude- Knowledge of IT concepts, issues, practices, methodologies, and trends Desired Qualifications: - Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server (2005 and above) or MySQL server, including installation, administration, configuration, troubleshooting, backups and restoration - Knowledge of modern networks: TCP/IP, Firewalls, Load Balancers, Ethernet Switching, IDS/IPS security devices, Device monitoring (TCP port, SNMP, WMI and application monitoring tools), and Security monitoring (familiar with common techniques).- Amazon Web Service (AWS) experience desired - SSL configuration and use expertise - Mongo / NoSQL database administration - Scripting languages such as PERL, Python, and bash - Basic knowledge of Windows 2003 Server and aboveAIR offers an excellent compensation and benefits package, including a fully funded retirement plan, generous paid time off, commuter benefits, and tuition assistance.
