You will have the opportunity to work with the industry's most advanced technologies.You will have opportunities to involve yourself in the future and oversee a suite of products, creating a high-level design that connects several (heterogeneous) sub-systems, which together make up a whole system.Accountabilities:In the role you would be expected to:* Work on a team developing and enhancing CQ Roll Call's federal and state legislative tracking products and grass roots advocacy products* Collaborate with team to invent the next generation of our products using new technology advancements in cloud computing, machine learning, and the latest methods of processing big data* Provide technology leadership and support to the engineering teams and support the creation of scalable, secure, flexibly deployed and extensible solutions* Play a key role of mentor-ship within the engineering team as well as working to improve and enforce development processes, best practices and standardsExperience, skills and professional attributes:To succeed in the role you must have:* 5+ years of hands-on, large-scale software development / integration experience using Java/J2EE technologies* 2+ years of hands-on experience with the technologies in the Hadoop ecosystem like Hadoop, HDFS, Spark, MapReduce, Pig, Hive, Flume, Sqoop, Cloudera Impala, Zookeeper, Oozie, Hue, Kafka* Proven ability to make decisions in technology selection and implementation approach based on long-term strategic objectives, while taking into consideration short-term implications for ongoing or planned implementations* Demonstrated ability to apply technology in solving business problems and to communicate with both technical and non-technical audiences* Experience with search systems (Lucene, Solr, ElasticSearch)* Exposure to high availability configurations, Hadoop cluster connectivity and tuning, and Hadoop security configurations* Good understanding of relational databases and solid SQL skills* Good understanding of Operating Systems (Unix/Linux), Networks, and System Administration experience* Knowledge of hybrid cloud solutions (VMWare and Amazon Cloud) with hands-on experience in direct API integration is an advantage* BS/MS in Computer Science or related fieldNice to have (in order of desirability):* Spring* Hibernate and JDBC (Oracle and Postgres)* Wicket* nosql databases including Solr, Elasticsearch, and Marklogic* XML (DOM, DTD, Schemas, XSL, XPath, XQuery) and JSON* git, jira, confluence* Perl, bash, groovy, pl/sql, sql, phpTo succeed in the role you will be able to demonstrate:* Intellectual curiosity, reliability* Flexibility within team* Passion to deliver quality* Interest in learning and contributing to teaching others through contributions to open source projects and mentoring junior resourcesOptions:Posted by StartWire.
