LFCU is currently seeking a Jr. Accountant/Accounting Specialist to join our winning team. Reporting directly to the Accounting Manager, this position will be primarily responsible for maintaining the Credit Union's accounting records and reports, ensuring that they are in compliance with generally Accepted Accounting Principles and credit union accounting practices. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to gain some exposure on the Finance side of the department by assisting the Senior Vice President of Finance in performing relevant Finance-related duties and responsibilities. More specifically, the Accountant will: Prepare records and process accounts payable and cash disbursements. Prepare records and process accounts receivable and cash receipts. Assist in the posting of accounts to the general ledger for accounts receivable, cash receipts, accounts payable, cash disbursements and payroll. Assist in monthly bank and general ledger reconciliation. Review open invoice reports; follow-up with a schedule of payments or adjustments. Conduct special studies and develop or recommend accounting methods and procedures. Maintain required records, reports and files. Maintain all assigned accounts such that they are always in balance and current within 30 days. Process and reconcile daily official check settlement, stop payments and requests for check copies and reconcile the corresponding GL account. Efficiently perform all accounting transactions related to credit and debit card portfolios. Research and resolve adjustments and differences in a timely manner. Assist in developing recommendations for cost efficiencies and enhancements to products, pricing and processes by monitoring trends in operations and deposit services. Perform Federal Reserve Bank reconciliation. Assist in the preparation of all financial reports and other management reports within prescribed time frames. Assist in fulfilling finance related ad hoc projects as assigned by the Senior Vice President of Finance Provide assistance to auditors and regulators as needed. Qualified candidates will: Have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting. Have experience with automated data processing systems including PC software programs and mainframe system. Be proficientin MS Office Suite. Have some experience in QuickBooks (preferred). Have the ability to analyze complex financial data and interpret the same into meaningful financial information. Be self-motivated. Be able to work independently within a team environment. Possess excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
