AbleVets, LLC is a fast-growing Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) providing healthcare information technology services and resources to help the VA and DoD improve the lives of the people they serve. AbleVets has an opportunity for an experienced, motivated Cloud Software Architect to support our VA customer. This position is located in our Chantilly, VA office and will involve travel to the customer offices in Washington, DC once per week.Essential Functions and Job ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate has experience in cloud technologies and can apply evolving cloud technologies, techniques, and frameworks to create and deliver client solutions. This individual will be responsible for designing and implementing solutions to move clients from legacy environments to cloud tools and processes. Specific responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:* Leading cloud-based system and software architecture design and implementation decisions* Communicating architecture design decisions and impacts to key stakeholders* Coordinating application migration activities and providing recommendations for migration courses of action (eg, retire, refactor, rebuild)* Assessing applications for cloud migration readiness* Developing and implementing a technology roadmap and engineer cloud-based solutions* Implement multiple solutions and/or lead one or more engineers in developing solutions and migrating existing applications and services to the cloudMinimum Requirements: * Bachelor's degree in computer science, electronics engineering, or other engineering or technical discipline* 5+ years of experience developing and deploying software applications within popular public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, etc.) and using tools such as Git, OpenShift, Kubernetes, and Docker* Cloud Architecture Certification from AWS, Microsoft, or other commercial Cloud provider* Knowledge of programming languages, including ActionScript, .NET, C#, C++, JavaScript, SQL, PLSQL, ASP.NET, PHP, Ruby, Python, or Node.js* Thorough understanding and experience with protocols such as REST and SOAP* 5+ years of experience with software development lifecycle processes or Agile development, including Scrum, rapid prototyping, or similar rapid development environment* Candidates must be US citizens and will be required to undergo a background investigation Minimum Requirements: * Bachelor's degree in computer science, electronics engineering, or other engineering or technical discipline* 5+ years of experience developing and deploying software applications within Azure using tools such as Git, OpenShift, Kubernetes, and Docker* Microsoft Cloud Architecture Certification* Knowledge of programming languages, including ActionScript, .NET, C#, C++, JavaScript, SQL, PLSQL, ASP.NET, PHP, Ruby, Python, or Node.js* Thorough understanding and experience with protocols such as REST and SOAP* 5+ years of experience with software development lifecycle processes or Agile development, including Scrum, rapid prototyping, or similar rapid development environment* Candidates must be US citizens and will be required to undergo a background investigation Desired Qualifications; * Experience with DevOps technologies, including Docker, Consul, Jenkins, Chef, and Puppet* Atlassian JIRA (or similar tool) experience* Master's Degree or advanced Professional Degree
