Overview: Direct hire. This is not a temp or temp to perm position. Seeking senior Windows/Virtualization Systems Engineer. May also perform role of alternate PM. Must have active DOD Top Secret clearance. Pay range from $140,000 - $150,000 a year with full benefits, but will depend on experience. Location is Pentagon. Bachelors degree is a firm requirement. Must also have PMP and CISSP certification. Responsibilities: Position reports directly to Program ManagerDemonstrated ability for oral and written communication with all levels of Contract, Civilian, and Military managementAct as a liaison to Program Manager, with ability to make decisions for contract, and personal issuesExperience in prompt completion and submission of weekly and monthly contract deliverablesExperience administering, directing, and managing multiple management actions, IT tasks, and substantial IT projects concurrentlyExperience leading a multi-tier support environment and working through and with subordinate managers/leads to ensure cross-program operational successExperience increasing knowledge base as necessary to support new and changing requirementsManage, Configure, Maintain, Monitor, and DesignVirtual Platforms on VMware, Microsoft Hyper-V, and XenHP and IBM chassis/blade infrastructure and OpenView management systemWindows 2003+ Active Directory, integrated DNS servers and multi-master zones, and WINS servers and replication infrastructureSystem backups, updates, recoveries, and related devicesExperience in supporting VMware vCenter appliance and server, UMDS, SRM, application support, and troubleshooting issues related to the infrastructure or functionalityRespond to telephone, electronic mail, and/or walk-in requests for support for all systems and equipment within the IT environment.Maintain maintenance records and perform follow-ups as required for routine preventive and on-demand maintenance on servers, workstations and related equipment.Monitor all enterprise wide servers and services.Provide corrective maintenance/troubleshooting for hardware and software malfunctions.Update and execute disaster recovery process, procedures and policies.Provide SME level troubleshooting on all technical mattersProvide design and maintenance support for SAN and load balanced clusters.Root cause research and identificationEstablish effective operational procedures and work instructions.Provide installation, testing and maintenance of Operating System and applications Software.Modify and Execute Processes, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Work Instructions (WI), troubleshooting guides and tools.Analyze security weaknesses and vulnerabilities of GOTS/COTS software recommending solutions as needed.Complete trouble and change tickets using applicable software, policy, and procedures in designated ticket tracking system (ITSM Remedy).Manage, Configure, Maintain, and Install server, workstation, and related equipment hardware, software, and operating systems in a mixed blade, rack mount, and virtual environment.On-Call 24/7/365 with Mission Essential Classification (Secondary Duties):Provide design recommendations and support documentation on existing and new architecture.Knowledge of various scripting languages with the ability to audit existing scripts or create new.Create project and task plans for infrastructure projects and changes.Support Linux, UNIX, Solaris, Microsoft SCCM, Microsoft SCOM, and PM driven systems.Assist all lower support tiers with any escalated user requests or incidents. Experienced with developing and completing actions in systems specifications, technical and logistical requirements and other disciplines. Experienced in creating and maintaining programmatic and technical documentation to insure efficient planning and execution, ability to manage and document system configurations.
