Elaine Ellis Center of Health has an exciting part time opportunity for a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner at our Kenilworth Avenue, Washington DC healthcare center. A caring PMHNP who is skilled in managing a growing caseload of patients needing therapeutic support and medication would be a great fit in our organization. SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Obtain accurate and appropriate health history and perform behavioral health assessments. Adhere to approved practice standards and protocols from the DC Board of Nursing. Explain procedures and discuss test results and prescribed treatments with patients. Monitor patients' condition and progress and re-evaluate treatments as needed. Prescribe or administer therapy, medication and other specialized care to treat or behavioral health illnesses in accordance with professional practice guidelines. Analyze reports, examination findings and test results to diagnose behavioral health conditions and follow -up appropriately and timely. Maintain a therapeutic relationship with patients to achieve desired goals. Record and maintain patient information accurately and timely. Provide education to patients and community members. Refer patients to other providers and specialists as appropriate. Consult with and provide consulting services to other providers. Support patients, families and caregivers in self management, self efficacy and behavior change.
