Surety Analyst - Regulatory/Underwriting/Claims/Legal Trade association of insurance companies and advisory organization located in Washington, DC, seeks an individual interested in a challenging and dynamic position in multi-faceted surety bond industry. Ideal candidate will have an interest and experience in surety, advocacy, conducting regulatory/statutory/legal research, handling negotiations and persuasive writing in an environment that encourages team work. A legal education is preferred, but not required. Excellent compensation and full benefits package including health insurance and generous 401(k). Key Responsibilities In coordination with General Counsel, review cases involving surety bonds and draft summaries for dissemination to members and subscribers and conduct legal research in response to inquiries from members and other staff members. In coordination with the Vice President and Counsel create educational and marketing materials that promote the use of surety bonds and explain their value.Review and analyze proposed regulations and legislation affecting surety bonds and draft comment letters to government agencies and legislators.Review onerous bond forms and construction contracts, and draft responses to obligees or appropriate government agencies.Maintain state surveys regarding surety bond laws. Conduct legal research and respond to inquiries regarding surety bonds.Build relationships with members of the Young Professionals Group and assist in administering programming for these young leaders.Serve as SFAA liaison with other stakeholders (government agencies, contractor organizations, etc.)Maintain the Claims Hotline and the adjuster licensing requirements database. Prepare meeting materials, build relationships and engage with member company representatives as co-staff for various underwriting and claim committees.
