The contract length is 1 year starting in Mid May. RoleEnsure that written content published on Baltimore County government websites is clear, concise and actionable for all users, regardless of their education or experience level.Review and edit web content submitted by County agencies via our content management system, and write original content as needed for specific projects and assignments.Enforce style standards and content governance according to County policy and industry best practices.Collaborate with designers, developers and other web team members to determine the best way to present specific pieces of content.Ensure that content is easily findable through site navigation, local site search, and organic search Min SkillsBA/MA in journalism, communications, marketing, online media or a related field.5+ years' experience developing content strategies based on business objectives and customer's needs.Experience in overseeing content requirements and creating content strategy deliverables including, but not limited to content audits, gap analyses, taxonomies, style guides and content migration plans.Ability to strategically plan for creating a long-term vision for the content that's generated.Experience writing and editing web content in plain language for diverse online audiences.Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills with impeccable attention to detail.Experience planning, managing and approving content in a content management system.Experience enforcing voice, tone, and style standards according to a professional style guide.Natural ability to advise the work of others in the areas of writing, editing and content management.Basic proficiency with HTML and CSS.Understanding of web writing best practices, including chunking, bulleting, and writing for scannability.Understanding of the relationship between content, information architecture, usability and visual design when building digital products.Familiarity with responsive web design principles, mobile-first design and web accessibility/Section 508 compliance.Ability to work independently and solve problems creatively. PreferredExperience writing and editing content for government, or other content for task-based audiences and large organizations.Experience using and implementing structured content.Experience with information architecture and usability practices.Familiarity with the Site Executive content management system.Experience with Bootstrap responsive design framework.Experience in search engine optimization (SEO) and search engine marketing (SEM Required SubmissionTwo examples of websites demonstrating the candidate's writing and editing skills for online audiences, and at least one sample showing the candidate's ability to develop a strong content strategy.
