Environmental Janitorial Technician
The Environmental Janitorial Technician (EJT) will provide Lead Abatement, Hazardous Waste Management and Daily Cleaning for the US Secret Service POR Facility and the Protective Services Training Academy located in Downtown DC and Upper Marlboro, respectively. Normal hours will be between 10 pm until 8 am. In addition the candidate may be required to provide support to the Rowley Training Center Crew, located in Laurel, Maryland and Federal Law Enforcement Center located in Cheltenham, Maryland. The EJT will maintain the various facility indoor shooting ranges in a clean and orderly manner, maintain logs and records and work with management to support waste logging and shipping. He/she will manage the hazardous waste materials and recyclables in accordance with applicable Federal, State and County regulations. Work will be performed in a safe and orderly manner at all times. Duties . Using industry standard practices and initial employee training, the EJT will collect, clean, abate, and remove lead contaminated debris, recyclable lead, lead contaminated floor sweepings and other lead contaminated items as indicated by the site supervisor. . Operate various portable equipment not limited to HEPA Vacuums, Portable Pumps, drum dollies, lifting cranes, safety straps, etc. . Operate company vehicles, mulls, tractors, forklifts, etc. . Properly store and maintain hazardous waste and other generated waste from firearm activities. . Prepare all Hazardous Waste for off-site shipping/transportation including packaging, markings, labels, placards, and manifest. . Maintain an updated waste inventory for facility operation and ensure each Satellite Accumulation Location is clean and properly maintained, labeled, etc. . Ensure proper compatibility of stored hazardous material and report and correct any deficiencies . Maintain and Understand Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for all products used by us at the POR Facility. . Assist in the maintenance of an Authorized Users List (AUL). . Maintain records of all hazard waste using waste identification diagram (WID). WIDs are project specific and will be created as new types of wastes are generated. . Maintain and keep records of all Hazardous Waste generated, stored and transported in a job specific drum log. . Daily inspect and maintain Satellite Accumulation Areas (SAA) and Hazardous Waste 90 Day Storage Area. . Maintain inventory of any company, government, or client equipment and materials authorized. This process shall include requesting adequate supplies and materials for the job. . Properly label all containers at the SAA, 90 Day Storage Area and other work spaces. . Perform housekeeping duties as stated in the client contracts and in accordance with regulations and standards. Work will require personnel protective equipment such as Tyvek, respirators, safety goggles, glasses, gloves, safety shoes, etc. . Perform filter changes, crushing, packing, proper storage and removal of hazard waste and non-hazardous waste materials. . Provide emergency and spill response 24/7. . Read, understand and follow the "Indoor Firing Range Standard Operating Procedures" (SOP). . Support other company activities and facilities as required while enhancing a teaming spirit at all times. Working knowledge of environmental procedures is a plus. Environmental Training will be offered to the selected candidate to supplement existing working knowledge of environmental procedures. Candidate should be willing to learn and implement newly learned skills following training period. Some client interface will be necessary. Candidate will need to be well spoken and know when to direct the client to the supervisor for a response or clarification. Position would consist of hourly pay plus Health and Welfare Fringe Benefits per the Service Contract Act. Position is full time. This job must be filled immediately!
