Studio ROCKS On-call Teacher
Position Title: Studio ROCKS On-call Teacher Program: Studio ROCKS (Extended Learning Academic Enrichment Program) Supervisor: Administrative Coordinator Location: 1420 Columbia Rd. NW WDC 20009 Primary Purpose of the Job: The Studio ROCKS On-call Teacher will work in collaboration with the Studio ROCKS Leadership Team and Community Education & Engagement program. The position will facilitate teaching curriculum and engage in the before and after school extended learning program. Essential Duties: 1) Track student progress on literacy and math software via the teacher's portal. 2) Responsible for executing all curricula with high energy and positivity that actively engages all students. 3) Communicate with parents on student progress on an as needed basis. 4) Provide drop off and pick up services to all feeder school students. 5) Input daily attendance and all meal counts as needed. 6) Set up classrooms as needed. 7) Manage grade level classes and studios across the ROCKS content areas. 8) Leading class in the implementation of lessons and facilitation of project-based learning in age-appropriate ways. 9) Ability to work full days (8 hour shifts) during winter, spring, summer camps and individual days when school is out of session and/or half day should the need arise. 10) Directly reports to the Administrative Coordinator. 11) Provides support to CEE Leadership Team as needed. 12) Monitors student progress and needs as appropriate. 13) Prepares students for presentations as appropriate. 14) Follows proper student dismissal procedures. 15) May be responsible for administering snack/supper as needed. Teamwork/Collaboration: 1) Collaborate with Studio ROCKS leadership on coordination of activities directly related to providing support for student learning. 2) Exhibit competency in working with diverse populations and a respect for different points-of-view. 3) Build relationships with each child by welcoming children, engaging in conversations and responding to their needs, and always ensuring student safety. 4) Assist with the guidance of children's learning by talking about their work, providing additional information to extend their learning, and asking open-ended questions. 5) Provide support and supervision for student activities. 6) Be flexible with all areas of the job. 7) Model a consistent philosophical and caring approach to working with children and youth along with an appropriate example of professional conduct. Required Core Competencies: Strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work independently or in a team setting. Experience working in a multicultural environment. Required Experience: 1-2 years working with school age children and youth. Be available to work on an on-call-basis to accept daily, weekly and/or long term opportunities. Basic Computer knowledge (Microsoft office proficient) is needed. Required Education: High School Diploma and/or Associate's Degree from an accredited institution. Bilingual Spanish/ English highly preferred. Required Licenses: CPR/First Aid Certified Working Conditions: Non-profit community based organization, bilingual Spanish/English environment. The tour of duty for this position is Monday-Friday, 7:00 am to 9:00 am and from 2:00-6:00 pm during the school year on an as needed basis.
