Network Architect - Washington, DC JCDS is currently seeking an Enterprise Network Architect to join our client's team in supporting a Government client in the Washington, DC area. Under supervision, you will provide critical leadership and support in overall network operations. This includes but is not limited to: Top Level Role & Responsibilities Leading and contributing to the deliverables for a Network Operations Team of 4-6people (including yourself) supporting Government Client Enterprise Lead IT Systems Management efforts for the Team including developing and executing Project Management Plans across the Team Develop, document, maintain and enhance Enterprise Architecture Plan for Government Client Enterprise Develop, document, maintain and enhance Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for major systems under management and business process workflows across Government Client Enterprise Ensure timely, accurate and efficient management of Government Client Enterprise network security and application deployment of key systems across the network Lead and drive technical discussions with Government Client and internal teams Specific Details of Role & Responsibilities ITSM, PM, Linux, Network Ops, Manage Ops , Security, Application Deployment Perform system life cycle activities required for corrective, preventative, enhancement, and support maintenance of Government Client Systems Provide end user support services for all systems in the Portfolio Ensure that all data processing and system availability standards are met across the portfolio Maintain the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of all data stored and processed by systems, programs, and applications within the portfolio Allow for enhancements to systems to be incorporated into daily operations Provide for the expansion of existing system operations resulting from the implementation of enhancements Maintain preparedness for and ensure the smooth transition and transfer of Contractor operations and maintenance responsibilities should a contractor change occur Capture and store sufficient management information, for all systems and applications Identify enhancements and modifications to management information systems and tools Provide a cross- system sample of Government Client data on individual, in a tool accessible to the Government and its contractors, for use in internal research and analysis Continue operation and maintenance and disaster preparedness Develop and prepare change requests according to the agreed upon methodology Identify, document, track and coordinate the activities and timelines for changes overlapping with order systems/applications. Ensure the overlapping changes are released to production as a whole at the same time Perform EPLC activities and document evidence Investigate issues reported by operations and end use support teams Identify root cause/issue resolutions/changes to the system Support release management and development activities Investigate deployment issues reported by operations team Support operations and end user support teams in the development of documentation such as system operating manuals, user guides, and training materials Provide subject matter expertise to operations and end user support teams and resolve production issues or end users issues Operate a data center in compliance with federal and departmental standards as defined under FISMA, NIST, HHS Establish and maintain all security controls according to federal information processing standards (FIPS) 199/200 moderate level. Provide hardware management, operating system and system software support, and platform operations support for all systems and housed at the data centers Support data center networks related operations (eg, design, build, systems monitoring incident diagnostics, troubleshooting, resolution and escalation, security management, and capacity planning/analysis) Install, configure and maintain data center system, management tools and proactively monitor the environment characteristics (eg, availability, performance, problems, issues and events) and identify, correlate, report and resolve incidents and problems Provide storage and data management service (eg, performance, level of data segregation, backup, restore archival, data reliability, encryption, security, access control) Install, configure, and support web applications infrastructure components (eg, servers DMZs, firewalls, middleware, load balancing components, secure connectivity, SSL certificates) Manage web proxy services including site blocking and content scanning, filtering, user support, administration and management and file transfer protocols/services Monitor and report activities related to application within the data center (eg, inbound and outbound internet traffic, bandwidth usage, number of wed site hits, availability, response time) Conduct and participate in annual disaster recovery exercises and continuity of operations tabletop exercises Plan, test, and package all infrastructure-related changed to scheduled release for implementation Production Operations and Support The Enterprise Network Architect shall per all operational actives including, but not limited to Maintain system operations documentation, interface documentation, and SOPs. Monitor all production jobs, processes, and data transmissions in and out of Federal System and identify and communicate any issues related to system, data, or transmissions. Respond to all production problems and issues and ensure stability and availability of the system according to the established performance measures. Work with data exchange partner/user to gather inputs needed to resolve issues. 24-hour, 7-day-a-week production support point of contact. Record and produce monthly operations reports in agreed upon format. Identify trends and refer to functional teams for root cause analysis. Establish allowable threshold and proactive monitoring to alert unusual system/user behavior. Maintain a tool accessible to record and track activities and status for all production issues. Monitor and recommend changes to improve system run time and/or space allocations. Ensure data retention processes and activities are executed as per the policies established by Government Client. Support the recovery of systems in the event of a disaster, including ensuring retention of proper backups for disaster recovery operations. Closely monitor what is being package for releases and ensure related operational instructions are updated in the system manuals to handle exception scenarios, and criteria for identifying anomalies, etc., Coordinate with release management to incorporate software changes to address root cause/recurring production issues. Disclose production issues to and coordinate with end user support services teams to communicate to end user that may be impacted. The Ideal Candidate: This is a mid to senior level position. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 5years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Additionally, the candidate will have experience with Linux, UNIX and Microsoft based network systems as well as Microsoft Private Cloud experience, Amazon Cloud experience and Microsoft Certification in Cloud or Network. Candidate must possess the desire to learn independently as well as in a team and have the ability to manage time well and meet multiple deadlines in a sometimes hectic environment. Experience with networking products and protocols, application deployments, Oracle database administration, test tool platforms, and troubleshooting are recommended.
