Industrial Mechanical/Electrical Multi-Craft Technician

Position Summary: + Performs corrective and preventive maintenance on production, utility, and facility equipment and instrumentation. This involves all necessary documentation and data collection associated w/performing calibrations/ preventive maintenance work and executing validations of production equipment. + Capable of interpreting and performing mechanical and electrical plans, reading technical drawings, drafts and sketches. + Works independently in performing various tasks + Assists other multi-craft maintenance personnel to resolve technical issues + Troubleshoots and repairs the following Production and facility equipment including but not limited to: + Electro-mechanical and electro-pneumatic systems. + Conveying and Palletizing Systems + Labeling, Capping and Filling Systems + Power transmission equipment + Low and High Pressure Boilers + Basic machine operation PLC-based control systems + AC (up to 480V) and DC electrical circuits + Equipment instrumentation verifications and calibrations + Documents all machine wiring equipment repairs and modifications and submits to the Engineering Department for data retention. + Makes recommendations for equipment and process improvements + Complies with all industry standard and company specific safety regulations + Follows all procedures to assure compliance with all regulatory requirements (ie, GMP). + Ability to navigate and be proficient with required job functions associated w/maintaining/modifying data base CMMS (Blue Mountain Regulatory Asset Management) + Recognizing and being accountable for the calibration/Preventive maintenance requirements of the Thermo Fisher Middletown facility + Performs other duties as assigned Minimum Requirements/Qualifications: + Vocational/Technical 2-year electro/mechanical certificate or electrical or mechanical union apprenticeship with 5-8 years experience in an automated manufacturing environment. Extensive relevant experience may be considered in lieu of certificate. Some pipefitting experience and knowledge is a plus. + Strong background in the electrical and mechanical trades. The ideal candidate would have a broad knowledge base of electrical, mechanical, pipefitting and machining lathe skill sets. Proven diagnostics and troubleshooting skills are a must. Physical Requirements: + May be required to work evenings and/or weekend hours in order to keep facilities and equipment operational. + Will be on call for manufacturing and facilities and must be able to work 2nd and 3rd shift emergencies. + May be exposed to cold, heat, noise, dust, fumes, paint, chemicals, oil, or grease depending upon the area in which work needs to be performed. + Will be required to gown-up to work in manufacturing and will wear hair covering on head and arms, and safety glasses with side shields. + Must be able to lift 75 lbs. + Must wear company provided uniform and safety glasses and safety shoes. Critical Hiring Criteria: + Proven ability to repair and maintain machinery + Must be able to read and understand electrical and mechanical blueprints, assembly drawings, bills of material, equipment and device manuals, and ladder logic. + Proficient in gauge readings and indicators of operational machines. + Above average mathematical/analytical skills to perform calculations. + Requires excellent organizational skills and ability to collect/sort and analyze data for record keeping. + Ability to recognize necessary equipment spare part components and procure if necessary. + Requires excellent troubleshooting skills. + Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills. + Requires a strong mechanical aptitude with basic fundamentals and hands-on of refrigeration, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems. + Requires a strong electrical aptitude w/basic fundamentals of 120/208V electrical circuits/motors/breakers/relays and functions. + Must have basic computer skills. + Must be able to work well with others in various departments in a cooperative manner.
