SVP, Content Operations
The Senior Vice President of Digital Content Operations will be responsible for growing National Geographic's web and mobile web business through the creation of best-in-class content experiences on Natgeo.com, implementation of engagement and retention strategies including an O&O video operation and syndication partnerships. This senior executive and his/her team will fully immerse themselves in the National Geographic brand, audience insights, and competitive and industry research to create compelling content experiences (articles, photos, video, mobile, interactive) in key verticals. He/She will drive key performance metrics related to audience reach, engagement, conversion and ultimately NGP revenue growth.Responsibilities*Oversee digital content teams focused on National Geographic's web and mobile web product, including the Travel & Adventure vertical team, the content producer team, and a dedicated video team; direct and influence the Natgeo.com digital beat and digital photography teams to efficiently produce content aligned with growth and content strategies*Develop the P&L for NGP's O&O web and mobile web business, and design strategies for significant audience and revenue growth *Establish performance metrics for O&O web and mobile web business, effectively communicate across the organization, and lead own team and collaborate with partner teams to achieve*Implement content strategies across Natgeo.com's vertical channels that convert top-of-funnel content snackers into Natgeo.com brand loyalists/fans*Work with NGP Marketing and Sales to ensure content is aligned with targeted audiences and marketplace demand; create customer journeys that deepen relationships and result in conversions*Collaborate with Sales, Audience & Community Development teams to develop go-to-market strategies around digital sponsorship offerings; partner across NGP and Fox to drive product development and implementation of O&O web ad products and monetization platform roadmap*Partner with Product to ideate and develop Natgeo.com product features that encourage deeper engagements and content exploration, with particular focus on mobile experiences *Develop and manage robust SEO and newsletter strategies for key verticals*Manage and grow NGP content syndication partnerships including with Apple News*Partner with Social leadership to build content synergy, continuity of voice, effective conversion from social platforms O&O platforms*Provide content support for NGP cross-platform tent pole projects and other high priority initiatives*Develop and execute on video strategy that increases video engagement across all content verticals and key initiatives*Continually monitor content initiatives of key competitors and make adjustments to NGP digital content strategy to forge leadership position; become an expert in the National Geographic brand and target audiences, and understand NGP's strategic and competitive positioning*Create user-insights-driven culture within NGP Digital organization and across NGP *Support the ongoing development of top digital content talent across the digital product organization*Communicate the vision of new product offerings to internal stakeholdersQualifications*10+ years experience in content creation and development at media or technology firm*BA/BS degree required, MBA preferred*Experience leading complex operational and strategic initiatives across owned and partner digital platforms*Excellent communicator with ability to navigate complex issues and matrixed organizations *Strong analytical skills and experience building content strategies for targeted audiences.*Understanding of the media sales organizations and track record of working with sales to drive revenues.*Superior ability to communicate a vision for change / growth and provide support to teams undergoing transition in culture*Passion for digital video and experience scaling video plays on owned and operated platforms.
