Open to members of the MDARNG only Duties Serves as a state Security Monitor. Coordinates security and intelligence matters to include review of state directives and regulations. Implements security regulations through spot-checks or random sampling of classified defense documents. Conducts scheduled and unscheduled security inspections. Develops procedures on emergency removal of plans. Conducts special security surveys/inspections as required by the National Security Agency. Performs other duties as assigned. All Series GS-0080 personnel must be certified at the next higher level before being eligible for that level. Each applicant must have the education and validated understanding of the basic principles and concepts of the occupational series and grade for one of the seven organizational program disciplines and its applicable Security Series career level, as cited on page two. Applicants must have the experiences, education, or training that demonstrates the ability to follow directions, to read, understand, and retain a variety of instructions, regulations, and procedures. Specialized Experience ? Defined as progressively responsible work that demonstrates the candidate's full competency (Knowledge, Skill, Ability, and Behaviors) to perform tasks and responsibilities as described in the pertinent position description. It includes military administration, military security, and/or personnel management experience that prepares the applicant to perform the duties and responsibilities to achieve the required competency levels as defined by the applicable position description. Information Security, GS-0080-09 Has basic working knowledge on how to perform Special Security Representative duties and responsibilities in a Special Security Office. Performs the day-to-day operational duties within the Special Security Office in support of all sensitive compartmented information-associated security programs and measures. Experienced in research and analysis reports on physical, information, computer, and personnel security. Experienced in conducting intelligence support operations, procedures, and practices that are necessary to accomplish intelligence functions in support of programs essential to state National Guard daily operations, training, and readiness missions. Substitution of Education for Specialized Experience: N/A Applicants who are substituting education for specialized experience (totally or partially) must submit either an official transcript or a statement from the registrar, dean, or other appropriate official of the OPM approved educational institution (military schools & most technical schools included). Other Requirements: A pre-employment physical or medical screening may be required for placement to this position Selectee will be required to participate in Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer (DD/EFT) program as a condition of employment. Security Clearence Requirement: Employment is subject to attaining and maintaining a security clearance as required by the position Failure to complete prescribed courses for new personnel within the first year of employment may be cause for reassignment or termination. Note: Permanent Change of Station (PCS) allowance is not authorized for this position based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest.
