Duties The position is located in the Architect of the Capitol, Office of the Chief Operating Officer, Director Planning and Project Management, Director Energy and Design Services Division, Assistant Director Electronics Engineering Branch, Operations and Maintenance Section. The incumbent may be assigned to either the House or Senate Electronics Engineering Operations and Maintenance Unit. Is responsible for operation and maintenance of Legislative Call.lock Systems (LCCS); Congressional Cable Television Systems (CCTS); Congressional Portable Audio.ound Systems (C-PASS); and other various electronics systems located throughout the Capitol Hill Complex. Functions include operating and maintaining transmission systems that deliver signals and audio.ideo intelligence of any nature by wire, radio, optical or other electronic systems; choosing, setting up, operating, and maintaining audio-sound equipment.ystems; and responding to the Congressional Member's and Staffer's individual requests for technical support of supported equipment.ystems. **EQUIPMENT MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR (40%)** Applies a comprehensive knowledge of operating electronic principles such as circuit elements, digital logic, microprocessors, core memory, interface circuits, digital data transmission, microwave, antennas, signal behavior, amplification, and display. Analyzes the interaction of a number of complex, interrelated circuits such as timing circuits, pulse forming networks, etc., to determine the cause of a malfunction and the interaction of factors, such as ambient temperature and the power and duration of the signal input, which together cause it to fail. Applies an extensive knowledge of electromechanical servo systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, and mechanical and electric motor systems for antenna control. Interprets complex drawings, specifications, and schematics of complete systems to recognize the function and interconnections of the various assemblies and troubleshoot the system from the schematic, following signal paths through a complex path of interconnections of components, assemblies, subassemblies, and connecting cable harnesses. **ADVICE AND ASSISTANCE (15%)** Makes independent judgments and decisions regarding methods and procedures for completing assignments that may involve extending the use of conventional test equipment, and improvising fault analysis, repair, and calibration techniques; Keeps abreast of technological changes in the occupation, and provides technical guidance and assistance to lower grade employees.
