The duties are performed within in at least two trades, painting and architectural trades: * Performs standard coating methods such as brushing, rolls and spraying; * Prepares surfaces to be painted by sanding and wire brushing, followed by priming; * Replaces drywall, cove base, floor/wall tile, ceiling tiles/grid, light bulbs, wall plates as well as other minor repairs; * Installs door stops, hangs wall items, such as pictures, bulletin boards, mirrors, fans, clocks, replace bumper guards, nurse call pull cord, etc.; * Installs/adjusts door closures; * Duties may also include removing, cleaning, replacing, packing and sealing defective parts of utility, supply and disposal systems such as dirty traps, section of broke tile; and * Performs other duties as assigned. **Work Schedule:** Monday through Friday, 7am until 3:30pm. Two positions are located at the VA Medical Center in Baltimore, MD and Two are located at the VA Medical Center in Perry Point, MD. You will be rated on the following Job Elements as part of the assessment questionnaire for this position: * knowledge of and skill in applying safety regulations, OSHA codes and other local code regulations pertaining to applicable trade. * knowledge of the methods and procedures involved in the repair and replacement of drywall, taping and joint compound. * knowledge of standard surface preparation and coating methods and techniques. * skill in utilizing tools and equipment related to common trade. **Physical effort and work conditions**: The work requires a considerable amount of standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, and work in tiring and/or uncomfortable positions. The incumbent carries, lifts and handles parts weighing up to 50 pounds. The work is performed primarily indoors. The work area may be dirty, wet, dusty and greasy. The incumbent is subject to cuts, abrasions, irritation of eyes, etc. The incumbent may be required to wear safety and protective items for extended periods of time. The incumbent is required to wear and/or utilize proper safety equipment. Safety shoes must be worn during duty times. Eyeglasses, goggles, hard hats, respirators, gloves, gowns, protective clothing, or hearing protection will be worn when performing work involving known hazards or when care must be extended by the incumbent to prevent injury.
