  • To be eligible, applicants must meet ONE of the following requirements:

    To qualify for this position at the GS-07 level, you must meet one of the following requirements:
    A) Have one year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-05 level in the Federal Service (obtained in either public or private sectors). This experience must include activities such as: 1) analyzing procedural issues or projects to determine the best course of action to be taken; 2) applying qualitative and quantitative techniques when gathering information; and 3) assisting senior level officials and industry stakeholders with gathering and analyzing pertinent information. ~OR~

    B) Have one full year of graduate level study, or possess a master's or higher degree, e.g., LL.B., J.D., LL.M., Ph.D, in a field that provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. Such fields include business administration, public administration, political science, government, or other directly related field that provided the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the work.. GRADUATE EDUCATION: One academic year of graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that your graduate school has determined to represent one academic year of full-time study. Such study may have been performed on a full-time or part-time basis. If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study. ~OR~

    C) Have a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university AND meet Superior Academic Achievement (SAA) based on ONE of the following: (1) class standing (upper third standing in graduating class); -OR- (2) grade-point average (2.95 or higher overall or over the last two years of bachelor's degree –or- 3.45 in my major field or over the last two years in my major); -OR-(3) election to membership in a national scholastic honor society. ~OR~

    D) Have a combination of specialized experience and graduate education as described in "A" and "B" above. If your education is currently described in quarter hours, convert them to semester hours by multiplying by 2/3rds. To combine education and experience, first take the number of semester hours or equivalent earned towards a graduate degree, in excess of 18 semester hours, and divide by 18 semester hours or equivalent. Then take the number of months experience and divide by 12 months. Add the percentages together. The total must equal at least 100 percent to qualify.

    NOTE: Education must be accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education in order for it to be credited towards qualifications (particularly positions with a positive education requirement). Applicants can verify accreditation here. All education claimed by applicants will be verified by the appointing agency accordingly.

    Special Instructions For Foreign Education: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show that the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
