Fairfax County, DPWES, Public Private Partnership Branch, Engineer Technician III, Part Time
The position provides technical and general support for the building and real estate development projects in Public Private Partnerships Branch.
Under the general supervision of the Branch Chief, and at the request of engineering professionals, the position performs research, coordination and reporting on land use and entitlement process, utility coordination, permit acquisition, and provides general support of assigned projects in the branch. Collects and manages information and documentation, researches land use subjects such as comprehensive plan, zoning and real property information. Coordinates work with multiple agencies, consultant and development teams, vendors, and others as necessary in the process of project development. Provides project accounting and financial contract management, and maintains contract and financial records. Assists with research and development of standard templates and documents for the development projects, utilizing computers and software to complete assigned duties. Exercises independent judgment and initiative. The successful applicant must be highly motivated and self-sufficient; possess the skills necessary to work in a fast-paced collaborative team environment; and be oriented toward providing outstanding customer service to internal and external customers, and stakeholders.
Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to a high school graduation or a G.E.D. issued by a state department of education; PLUS, four years of engineering and technical support work, in building design and construction and real estate development field.
The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check to the satisfaction of the employer prior to appointment. A valid driver's license is required.
The ideal candidate possesses the following:
- Education or experience related to design and construction, and land use and development projects. Familiarity with design and construction documents for managing small scale projects, utility coordination, land use permits and related research.
- Proficiency in basic Microsoft Office Suite applications and information management.
- Ability to work independently; experience in working in a fast-paced, collaborative teamwork environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

*Note: This position is scheduled to work 30 hours per week (not to exceed 1560 hours per calendar year).
