Description: The College Board, a national educational organization, is conducting a search for a Policy and Government Relations Specialist for our Global Policy and External Relations division, to be resident in the College Board's Washington, DC office. POSITION SUMMARYThe College Board seeks a Policy and Government Relations Specialist, GPER, to provide administrative and staff support to senior level Policy and Government Relations personnel. This individual will interact with other College Board business units as well as external parties. To be successful in this role, the candidate must be customer service and detail-oriented and an excellent communicator. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBLITIES:Perform a variety of administrative support tasks which may include:drafting documents;maintaining files;compiling data and managing databases;processing incoming/outgoing mail and invoices;preparing internal and external mailings;maintaining a calendar for one or more persons;meeting/event planning, preparation, and logistics; making travel/hotel arrangements; andpreparing expense reimbursement reports.Assist with lobbying compliance reporting and lobbyist registrationsPrepare Salesforce and Concur data to be used in the annual 990 filingConduct research, synthesize data, draft presentations, and prepare correspondence for diverse audiences. Attend hearings and seminars, perform policy research, and prepare summaries and analyses.Draft statements of work and interact with contract lobbyists and other vendors. Work with other operations staff to initiate procurement process.Prepare routine and varied correspondence, internal reports, and reports for internal/external review.Process orders, registrations and requests for information.Coordinate and attend large events in support of Policy and Government Relations initiatives. Some travel is involved.Perform other duties as requested or required. PRINCIPAL RELATIONSHIPSMaintains contact with government officials, staff, College Board members, customers and vendors, with the purpose of providing and requesting information. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSBachelor's degree in related field and minimum three years of related experience.Desire to pursue an advanced degree and/or career in policy or government relationsExperience working in a staff role in a Congressional or State Legislative office is preferred. RELATED SKILLS & OTHER REQUIREMENTSDemonstrated skills in researching and analyzing complex issues, including an ability to synthesize and summarize large amounts of information and to focus quickly on the essence of an issue. Demonstrated ability to learn and master new issues quickly. Demonstrated time- and project-management skills, including an ability to juggle several projects at different stages simultaneously and a strong capacity to track details, meet multiple deadlines, set priorities and identify resources. Excellent written communications and verbal skills, including the ability to write strong initial drafts for different audiences, carefully proofread, and easily communicate complex concepts in a clear, concise, cogent manner. Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to develop and maintain productive relationships with colleagues, consultants and external partners. Excellent listening skills.Ability to work professionally and collegially within a creative, fast-paced corporate culture that emphasizes attention to detail, teamwork, compliance with internal standards, and external achievement.Advanced problem solving and analytical skills and strong critical thinking and writing skillsComputer literacy, including advanced level skills in Adobe Acrobat Professional, and Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power PointExperience with Concur, Lawson, and Salesforce, a plus.
