JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The Network Design Engineer is responsible for design and implementation of LAN/WAN and Wireless communication systems. The Network Design Engineer--ensures that the communication system design meets all technical and functional requirements and is compliant with engineering standards, codes, and specifications.? Convert operational and functional requirements into technical specifications and designs Write detailed technical specifications for LAN/WAN and Wireless communication systems Create detailed design of LAN/WAN and Wireless communication systems Write interface control document, configuration plan, transition plan, and the test plan for successful implementation of communication systems Coordinate with other trades to determine requirements that affect communication system design Identify infrastructure requirements for communication systems and or design communication system around existing infrastructure Perform bench testing to evaluate multiple products and platforms in course of product selection Configure network switches, routers, wireless access points, etc per design requirements Participate in customer design reviews Identify contract changes, issue RFIs, and assist with change orders? REQUIREMENTS: ?4-8 years of experience as a LAN/WAN and Wi-Fi engineer Candidates with prior experience on Transit projects specifically railroad will be preferred Extensive technical knowledge of network technologies/topologies and how it affects bandwidth, latency, redundancy, and route convergence Extensive technical knowledge of Wireless/Wi-Fi design principals including coverage, capacity, roaming and hand-off Experience performing passive, active, and predictive Wi-Fi surveys Technical knowledge of network security such as firewalls, encryption, IDS, IPS Technical knowledge of network management software and applications Working knowledge of Voice over IP Telephone system Working knowledge of AutoCad and Revit Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or similar other technical field One or more certifications in network and wireless technology Ability to obtain government security clearance Ability and desire to innovate Good writing and presentation skills?
