About the Agency

As a student trainee, you will assist higher-level specialist and analyst in the performance of their assignments. This position is responsible for performing developmental assignments and assisting senior personnel in the analysis of routine economic research, trade programs and events coordination, investigation/compliance cases, agreements and/or monitoring programs. Developmental duties may vary depending of the office to which you are assigned.

This Internship is a temporary appointment, not to exceed 90 days for the Summer of 2017.

Managers within the various business units of ITA may consider and utilize the certificate with the remaining referred candidates to fill vacancies within their business unit. The business units are Executive & Admin, Global Markets, Enforcement and Compliance and Industry & Analysis.

    Level of Education:

    For the GS-05: Completion of 4 academic years of post-high school leading to a bachelor’s degree or equivalent degree.

    For the GS-07 level: Completion of 1 full academic year of graduate level education; or eligibility under the Superior Academic Achievement provision and completion of a bachelor’s degree.

    Superior Academic Achievement: Successful completion of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with Superior Academic Achievement (SAA).

    Superior Academic Achievement is based on (1) class standing, (2) grade-point average, or (3) honor society membership.

    1. Class standing -- Applicants must be in the upper third of the graduating class in the college, university, or major subdivision based on completed courses.
    2. Grade-point average (G.P.A.)-- Applicants must have a grade-point average of: a. 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B" or better) as recorded on their official transcript, or as computed based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; or b. 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B+" or better) based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field or the required courses in the major field completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum.
    3. Election to membership in a national scholastic honor society -- Applicants can be considered eligible based on membership in one of the national scholastic honor societies listed below. These honor societies are listed by the Association of College Honor Societies.
    NOTE: One full academic year of undergraduate; graduate; vocational; trades; technical or high school education is the number of credit hours determined by the college, university or school to represent 1 year of full-time study. One year of education is typically defined as two semesters (30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours).
