These positions are located in the FLETC, Regional and International Training Directorate, Office of Cheltenham Operations (OCH), Cheltenham, Maryland. The selected individuals serve as the confidential Staff Assistants to the OCH Site Director and to the Chief of the Cheltenham Administration Division providing substantial administrative and management support duties to ensure accomplishment of the FLETC and the OCH missions.

  • The qualification requirements listed below must be met by the closing date of this announcement.

    You must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service performing a variety of administrative duties to include:

    • Preparing and reconciling budgets;
    • Establishing suspense systems for records and files;
    • Controlling and reviewing correspondence; and
    • Preparing a variety of reports.
    In addition to the duties listed above, you must be able to type 40 wpm.

    As a general rule, education is not creditable above GS-5 for most positions covered by this standard; however, graduate education may be credited in those few instances where the graduate education is directly related to the work of the position. You must submit a copy of your college transcript (unofficial is acceptable) in order for your graduate education to be credited.

    Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

    The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office.
