Seeking highly qualified individual to collect data for various traffic engineering studies and make recommendations based on data collected for the Fredericksburg District. You will conduct traffic investigations through field reviews, office data/files to research signing, pavement marking or other related traffic control devices, and traffic signal operations to make recommendations concerning study assignments. Prepare sketches, collision or condition diagrams and write finding results. Conduct speed limit studies; collect field data such as vehicular speed utilizing radar gun or road tubes, roadway geometrics and roadside development; assemble office data to include accident history and speed study files; compile data collected, prepare reports and maintain files. View details & knowledge, skills, & abilities for applicant evaluation at local VEC or Minimum Qualifications Experience in traffic engineering studies, data collection and analysis or design, knowledge of traffic engineering principles, standards, regulations and practices; knowledge of roadway safety and traffic engineering rules, regulations, specifications and guidelines. Ability to collect, evaluate and analyze a variety of technical data and develop findings and recommendations; ability to communicate verbally and in writing with internal and external customers. Ability to monitor or inspect work performed by others and provide technical gtraining and guidance. Ability ot read and interpret road construction plans and to prepare plan sketches; ability to work effectively with others on technical issues. skill in the use of computers and software and web-based applications to include MS Office, Synchro, and CADD . Ability to lift traffic counters and install road tubes or plates using a hammer or nail gun. High school education/ GED and valid driver's license required. Preferred Qualifications Familiarity with MUTCD , Virginia Work Area Protection Manual, Highway Capacity Manual and VDOT Road and Bridge Specifications.
