Responsibilities

As an intermediate systems engineer, performs design of server and application architectures.  Performs the administrative operation and maintenance of server hardware and software and virtualized application development environments. Performs the administrative operation and maintenance of multiple supporting Microsoft Active Directory infrastructures. Support the operations and maintenance of the existing vCenter, Microsoft Active Directory, and NetApp Storage infrastructures. Executes ad-hoc incident response, resource deconfliction, and infrastructure change management duties in support of systems and storage architecture. Maintains requisite supporting system documentation, operating procedures, and historical trend information for assigned systems administration and storage area network administration duties. Researches and advises leadership on key performance indicators relating to: development environment health, under-utilized capabilities, as well as organizational and systems environment capability gaps. Maintains system security and executes practices and procedures, monitors usage statistics and logs, monitors and remedies attempts to penetrate or corrupt server files. Maintains baseline configurations and performs modification of configuration settings. Research, collaborate with team members, and implement "leading-edge" virtualization technologies in support of customer-focused continual performance improvement. Institutes troubleshooting and incident response procedures.  Troubleshoots system related problems. Remains current in operating systems/software analysis and technological developments and applications. Recommends future direction or projects to management. Provides expertise and direction in the development or modification of software programs and applications to enhance an operating system.  Adheres to industry best practices as well as organizational directives when transforming customer requirements into customized system environments.

 

 

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

 

    MCSA Windows Server 2008 or 2012DOD 8570 IAT Level II required Level III preferredExperience with Enterprise-Level backup and restorationExperience with Microsoft Active Directory infrastructuresStrong experience with server virtualization (VMWare VCP5 or Microsoft Hyper-V)Experience with management of Storage Area Networking enviornmentsUnderstanding of the Cisco UCS or Blade server systems Competent to work at a high technical level on all phases of systems engineering activitiesExcellent communication and briefing skills; shows tact, effective listening skills and follow throughSolid worth ethic and the ability to work in a mission critical enviornmentDetail oriented and organized; able to understand information systems and ensure accuracy of workProvides technical guidance and leadership to engineers with less experience
Education Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience.

Qualifications 5-8 years of related systems engineering experience.
