Job Summary

Westat is seeking an individual with strong analytic skills to participate in new and existing national and international health-related research for government, foundation and commercial clients, managing the day-to-day activities of studies involving survey operations, surveillance, and epidemiology. You will work with senior investigators and statisticians to help design and monitor studies and to analyze study data for presentations, reports, and publications in scientific and medical journals.

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: overseeing the collection, tracking and reporting of data; communicating with health care professionals and study collaborators; documenting and monitoring study procedures; performing quantitative and qualitative data review and analysis; and overseeing the preparation of analysis files, datasets, and reports for delivery to clients. This position requires working in a team with clinical investigators, a senior epidemiologist/biostatistician, an analysis programmer, and a data manager. Additional responsibilities include the translation of analysis objectives into a statistical analysis plan; communicating with the investigator and senior biostatistician to assure that the plan meets the objectives; providing specifications to the programmer; reviewing data quality and analysis output; summarizing results; and assisting with writing methods and results sections of reports and manuscripts.

Job Requirements

A master's degree with an emphasis in biostatistics and/or epidemiology
8 years of relevant post-degree experience in a health-related discipline with a quantitative emphasis

Qualified candidates must have experience with and knowledge in the design and analysis of health studies; an understanding of basic SAS programming logic/code; and experience in writing general programming requirement requests. Knowledge of statistical testing, inference, and modeling techniques is required. Strong oral and written communication and analytic skills, strong quantitative skills, administrative experience, and the ability to handle multiple tasks are essential.

Co-authorship on articles published in scientific journals is a plus, as is experience in operational aspects of conducting studies in international settings.
